The Cave

man finds a home in the cleft of the rock

a shelter from danger was all that he sought

he’s primitive, fearsome, a thinker of thoughts

and traces hope and fear on the face of the rock

a man sits alone in the cleft of the rock

watching for the whispers of the shadow of God

he spends a life time waiting for his chains to be unlocked

by an idea born to matter that’s as concrete as a rock

the man is laid low in the cleft of the rock

I went to see the body but no body I saw

How could so much meaning be contained in the walls

of the emptiness i found inside the cleft of the rock?
