About:
Seth Mitchell (mandolin, lead vocals, and songwriting) writes energetic and tuneful songs that reflect broad influences within folk, bluegrass, and Americana. Based in Maryland, he grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of western Pennsylvania in an old farmhouse filled with music, first picking up guitar at age 13.
After earning a music degree in theory and composition, Seth honed his songwriting voice while serving in the Air Force, performing across California, Hawaii, and Maryland. He became a versatile multi-instrumentalist, rotating through guitar, bass, and mandolin in various projects.
Seth is a dynamic participant in the Baltimore and Annapolis music scene, leading the Seth Mitchell Band while frequently performing as sideman and collaborator. His 2024 album Glen Burnie Man showcases original compositions that have earned recognition in regional songwriting competitions.
Michael Stone (guitar, background vocals) grew up in Southern Maryland and the mountains of Colorado. His nuanced guitar playing is informed by a deep love for music of all different kinds including bluegrass, folk, jazz, rock, and more.
Chris Blauciak (upright bass, background vocals) first began gigging as a drummer but soon fell in love with the upright bass too. He brings a drummer’s touch to the bass that helps create the band’s signature driving sound.
Tony Bonta (banjo, background vocals) may have taken the long road to bluegrass, receiving his first banjo in his late 30s as a birthday gift from his Flatt & Scruggs-loving father, but he’s certainly made up for lost time. Tony’s appreciation for funk, pop, disco, quirky music, and bluegrass banjo are all unified in his love for a good “pocket” when playing together.
Victoria Grier (fiddle) honed her skills playing in concert halls performing symphonic music and ballets, but she plays bluegrass fiddle with a fluidity and grit that sounds perfectly at home in the band’s hard-driving music.
