SETH MITCHELL RELEASES NEW ALBUM A FAIR THING TO ASK FOR

Full-length release features twelve original bluegrass songs and guest appearances from regional roots musicians.

CENTRAL MARYLAND — Bluegrass singer-songwriter Seth Mitchell released A Fair Thing to Ask For on October 14, 2026, via Waiting for Lester Records. The twelve-song album brings together original bluegrass songwriting, traditional acoustic instrumentation, and a lineup of guest musicians from the Mid-Atlantic roots music community. The album is available now on streaming platforms.

The album features guest appearances from Sarah Larsen and Jen Reynolds (Black-Eyed Suzies), Brooke Bell (Tornado Rose), Hayden Shaw (Hayden Shaw & This Side of Pleasant), and Matthew Zuckerman (Radish, Eddie Lightner & the Potomac Pickers). Mixing and mastering were performed by Ahren Buchheister (Letitia VanSant, Skribe) and Mike Monseur (Frank Solivan, Little Big Town) respectively.

“This album puts our love for bluegrass on full display, but we're also not holding back. Each song has something to say on its own while contributing to the album as a whole,” says Mitchell.

Seth Mitchell is a Maryland-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist working at the intersection of original bluegrass and Americana. Blending traditional acoustic instrumentation with contemporary influences, his music pairs inventive arrangements and rhythmic interplay with thoughtful songwriting and storytelling. As the leader of the Seth Mitchell Band, he performs throughout the Mid-Atlantic, bringing a fresh perspective to bluegrass while staying rooted in the genre’s traditions.

A Fair Thing to Ask For is Mitchell’s fourth album, following The Forest, Wildflower, and 2024’s WAMMIE-nominated Glen Burnie Man. Singles from the new album, including “Northern Lights,” “Where Have You Gone To,” and “Can’t Remember the Song,” have received airplay on WNCW, WVUD, Michelle Lee On Air, and other bluegrass and independent radio stations.
